Damini Ogulu (born 2 July 1991), better known by his stage name Burna Boy, is a Grammy Award-winning Nigerian Afro-Fusion singer and songwriter.

Burna Boy was born on 2 July 1991 to Mr. and Mrs. Ogulu. He hails from Ahoada, Rivers State and spent a part of his childhood in Port Harcourt. He attended Montessori International School, and later attended Corona, Agbara for his secondary school in Lagos. He would later to move to London where he would spend significant time, be involved in a gang related issue that saw one person dead, and flout court orders not to leave the UK in favour of pursuing a music career in Nigeria. His exit from the UK earned him a 15-year bar from entering the country. The bar was lifted in 2016, 5 years shy of the initial sentence.

Burna boy teamed up with Leriq as his producer often early in his career, and together they were able to make a name and gain massive popularity in Port Harcourt with only mixtapes. Under management with Aristokrat records, he released his debut album Leaving an Impact for Eternity (L.I.F.E) to approvals from fans and critics. As at 2017, his career had been characterised with great music and paved with controversies around his behaviour.

In 2019 Burna released his most commercially successful project at the time, African Giant, which followed on the heels of his critically acclaimed Outside. African Giant is his fourth LP and was nominated in the 2019 Grammy awards as the Best World music album. On August 14th 2020, he released Twice As Tall, an album executive produced by Diddy, which won the Best Global Music Album award at the 63rd Grammy award show in 2021.
